Good to know Andy can write. No excuse then, for not filling out some employment applications.

I spoke too soon about winter being over
we had torrential rain on Sunday and yesterday we had hailstones the size of tennis balls in certain areas. Over our house they were the size of ping pong balls, they nearly tore off the leaves of our lemon tree

Certainly, old friend. We are a diverse group with world wide connections.
I personally, don’t mind cold weather, as long as someone else is experiencing it !

I’ve never seen a racing form. Figured all he had to do was put down x’s. ;)

Gosh, Glad it wasn’t worse for you. Friends of mine in a different town, had to have their roof, garage, deck and patio and some windows replaced because of baseball size hail. Very dangerous.

No, it requires great skill to master a racing form or figure out the football pools in England. Andy spends a great deal of time and effort on them but most often comes up short. Whereas, Flo will bet on the jockey’s colors, her favorite number or the animal’s name and win ! So much for the science of the sport !

His home is in easy staggering distance.
Even better if there’s no canal nearby!

A “Council Flat” is an apartment (usually in a block) built for and rented out by the local authority. This was originally to allow worse off people in special circumstances to afford accommodation. Housing estates were also built. The house I live in was originally council built but sold off. It was built in the late 1940s and is steel framed.
    .
These days the houses on the estate that are still owned by the authority have just had new bathrooms, kitchens etc installed with no cost to the inhabitants. Their rents might increase but not by much.
