Good Morning to everyone reading this strip . . .

Doc doesn’t know it yet, but he’s about to give Mary one more bit of inspiration.

I definitely like where this is going.

Good Morning Benders, John Wooley, And readers of Alley Oop. A question to ask is why Mary Godwin would lie and
say that she was married unless it was for convention’s
sake. Still waiting to see what is in Doc’s bag of tricks.
It may be tubes of atropine and adrenaline which are injected into the heart. With a heart massage the heart
    can be restarted.

I wager that this conversation will drag on until Sunday before he defibrillates him.

Starting the heart doesn’t mean it is over.
What if he has internal injuries?

Could it possibly be there is something regarding time travel in the bag?. Something that mysterious might inspire Mary !

OK. Give me some time. I have to look through the archives to find it. Might take a couple days. I started looking last night and got up to 1940, but I may have been reading too fast. I’ll keep looking, but I even remember one story where Oop was in the Wild West and bad guys would fire their guns point blank at him and for one reason or another, not one bullet would hit him. It was explained that a time traveler simply cannot die outside of their own time frame.

She could probably run down there and back by the time Doc gets his bag open.

Well, that makes as much sense as time travel.
    I’ll go with it.

" It was explained that a time traveler simply cannot die outside of their own time frame."

Interesting notion. So if I step into Doc’s time machine and go five minutes into the future, I’ll be invulnerable for the rest of my li… um, forever?

We need to check the Dr Who archives for this theory.

Too much time. It’s about 5 minutes after pupils dilate, and our own witchdoctors don’t have much in the bag for traumatic neck/spine injury.
    .
Not severing the cord + Oops excellent physical health is best bet for recovery in 6 months to year.
    .
If he survives, Oola will kill him.

that’s a good point — but there is no reason to believe that the benders even remember or will follow the past conventions/traditions of this strip.

Its in the Chrestomanci series for alternate world travelling too.
    .
No injury fatal works on the theory that part of you always remains at departure point in its healthy condition.

Caveat: the balance always corrected itself by later accidents . The traveller could escape effects of nasty blow in otherworld only to have a nasty batting accident in home world a few days later.

Shoot Ally is just taking a little rest before he has to depart on a even more dangerous expedition.
