Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(70) 10/11/12

    Panel One

The Watcher has been in the house for less than a week. His coming here is on his itinerary that sends him all over the world to places fit for the likes of him and those of his kind. He and his cadre of friendly ghouls and night-gaunts help him navigate the night winds that blow him to his various and hidden places. It was back in 1926 as he reckoned once he was free of that boring house he was in that dimension, in the perpetual night of the odd place of his…birth? He has no memories of a normal life or a name.

But this place has the kind of feeling he finds exciting and normalizing. Only now there are more intruders with powerful machines and the force here seems weaker than the last time he was here in the year 1962 as the calender says. He can hide very well, so well that none of the truly living can perceive him with their earthly eyes but two of them here can see him with other eyes. Ones of the mind. The hulking man-ape can see his true form clearly, the woman with another locked inside of her can feel his presence but cannot see him.

    Panel Two

He learned from the guls of the Moroccan desert wastes how to hide ones self from the prying eyes of Man, the lamaia of the African swamps showed him the means to charm a person without frightening them, even the black-winged ones of the Louisiana swamps and marshes had shown him a means to move around the globe without need of mechanical help. Swiftly and surely to certain points on the earth that have an energy he is drawn to along the lines of force. This house is on a nexus of such lines, in this case of the dark force.

    Panel Three

He has heard of machines with rays that can capture beings similar to himself and now this one has a means of shattering the cohesive aspect of their bodies? Where even in this state one exists and they wish to take that away to a more permanent death? If he could feel fear it would be now. The pox of the Ghost Busters is spreading far and wide. Soon this fleshy being Tucker’s devices will make even capture unnecessary and seal their final destruction. Only the vampires of Carpathia would be a safe haven if they will tolerate such creatures as he.

    Panel Four

He needs to look at the devices at least, maybe he can begin to understand what they are and how they work. Soon he will need to return to Khem, to refill his bag with the nepenthe that soothes him, the strange corpse- kingdom under modern Egypt where the corpse-pharaoh and his half dead bride and their panoply of hybrid servants and the yellow monstrosity they worship. The gigantic horror that is the real meaning of the brooding Sphinx. So far he has not marched his undead legions to the surface to reclaim the upper air but he may one day awaken from his indolence and do so.

    Panel Five

Dr. Tucker suddenly stopped his work and looked around, feeling chills through his body as if alien eyes were on him. He looks around but sees nothing unusual. He knows it is more than just nerves but a part of the mind that is reacting to something out there as real as the human primitives like Alley Oop did to predatory dinosaurs hidden in the forests.

Oh, yes, Ikan. Thank you for participating in my abduction, the murder plot of my boyfriend, and trying to drug me while it was happening! How can I ever say thank you enough!

Ok, Ooola. Please feel free to – err – have another chocolate drink! Perhaps you are feeling somewhat warm? Need to – err – remove some of your heavy, confining clothing? Go ahead! Don’t mind me. I’ll just be mixing up another “drink” for you!

Hmmm. Ikan is glad for Oola and Oop, but sad that he thinks Yochi is in for a rough, maybe fatal, time after his pitz loss.
