Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 14 “Dark Trail of Doom”(30) 7/11/12
New security protocols at Ft. Mitchum include increased bug sweeps. Set up with the help of the NSA and Dexter who had worked for them before on a need to use basis. He had been advocating it since this mission started. First they set on the dozen or so known frequencies most used. After that they will work out what other wave lengths should also be tested for. It is quite a job. The NSA itself is spending valuable computer time on it along with all the other frequencies it is monitoring and reviewing of transmissions at its relitively new facililty in Utah. The largest data collection in the world.

In the mean time Nobu was also curious about this Dr. Dark, he is like no person she has ever heard of other than ancient shamans and demigods. Research done in the late 1960’s by Dr. Frank F. Robinson at the Noogenic Intitute showed one such “super unknown” was in their midst from the IQ test, specially formulated was off the charts on ten different levels.
Next to impossible to find unless they want to be. A super being next to any human on the planet or all of them! Richard’s calculated only one appearing per billion births. Dr. Robinson is an anthropologist as well as evolutionist and his intelligence test was way more sophisticaed than any created before or since. But what intrigued her more were the stories of those like Simon and Jesus and even Paricelsius and Magus in the 17th century alchemist with bizarre powers in the Nederlands. He was said to have powers beyond mortal men, to appear and disappear at will and to cloud men’s minds. He was accompanied by a strange and fiendish creature that followed his every order. (Some of those orders were silent that only the unnatural stunted creature could hear.) Some of the village elders believed he had some how found the secret of creating life and at the Devil’s order made such a monstrosity. It only got worse then the strange man disappeared never to be seen as Magnus again until the 1870’s in the USA!

So does that mean that at some unknown time in the future Dr. Dark would pull up stakes and leave, or change his features? “This can’t be allowed to happen,” she says to herself. Then she heard the noise. Very faint but because their plane is nearly empty and quiet she could hear something like a mechanism operating.
Panel Three
She holds her breath and listens again for a directional point. There it went again! She has her gun out. Time for some target practice. There she sees it now. Like some kind of metallic insect with a large round dark eye just behind the thorax. the damn thing takes off to leave!! She fires and clips it once, then twice and if falls with a metallic clink!
Nobu is suddenly anxious for them to return. She sees it still struggles to scuttle away. She steps on it but it is too tough for that. So she fires several more shots at point blank range. By then several Air Force guards run up to see what is the matter. She explains to them to find her a Faraday cage to put the damaged mechanism in.
For those who’ve commented on Ooola’s “fainting damsel in distress” act, under Le Benders, she doesn’t seem so ready to marry into High Mayan Society, right now. Her cries for help perhaps come more from being startled, and now she’s coming to herself. She looks like she’s getting ready to give Yochi a hay maker right in his tighty-whities!
1. How does Yochi know what the transporter is and that it would even work? 2. Has Alley been eating Popeye’s spinach? 3. When and where will the disappearing axe reappear? 4. Does this come off as lame (as predicted)? 5. Why is no one commenting on the ‘improved’ artwork anymore? 6. Why is my head hurting from all these questions?

Will Ooola be transported away before Alley can reach her? I personally believe the Benders make this strip interesting.
