My kids when toddlers could watch a washing machine for hours.

Once I was discussing a neighboring town with a coworker when he asked, “What do you do in Jay, Florida?”
""You gotta understand, Jay has ONE red light."
“Yeah, and everybody sits around and watches the light change?”
“It’s more fun than you’ think.”
I had done it one evening, and the light changing wasn’t all that important, but the assortment of people passing briefly was interesting — especially the ones who tried to hide when they saw they were being watched.
    Lovers and losers.

Is that more exciting than going to the airport to watch planes land?

A town I lived in had a blinking red light. No green, no yellow. It would be more fun watching hi def salad.

Nope, every landing is potentially a beautiful fireball, whereas wrecked cars only explode on old movies and TV shows.
I did once wait in Atlanta for the crowd of scurrying people to die down ere I realized it never slacked off. Busy little airport

…i used to get to the airport early when picking up returning travelers, just to sit in the observation deck and watch the planes…sadly, they built a brand-new, state of the art, yada yada airport – no observation deck…major disappointment…
