Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Whoo, that dog looks creepy!
I wonder if he’s gonna be a regular on this strip.
Tubbycat said, 6 months ago
He WAS a regular until she handed him into the vet…apparently about 6 months ago. I can’t remember what happened, I think he got hit by something.

That’s a DOG??!!!!!!!!
Doctor Toon said, 6 months ago
@Pacopuddy
That is a dog in the same sense that Agnes is a little girl
Neither one looks much like any dog or little girl that I’ve ever seen before, but that’s what they’re supposed to be

Isn’t his name Lester?

Yep. (for @Pacopuddy, Lester is supposed to be 32 human years — about 224 in dog-years).

Lester first appeared in December 2003 (pretty sure of the year). He talks, and first mouthed off to Trout. Agnes then took him to school, where he sat at a desk and mouthed off to the teacher. Since he has no ears, Agnes put Mickey Mouse ears on him. When Agnes gave him a Pop-Tart to eat, he made some comment about it being like cardboard or something… Lester’s been an “irregular” (irregularly appearing) character ever since.

WOW: I vaguely remember that, especially about the Mickey ears… I Am In Awe: I thought MY vast warehouse of useless information was rich, full and deep, but I am NO match for the information you just shared!! :-)

Methinks Agnes got off a little easier than she could have
- not even a strong lecture.—--
Do the math. $3200 divided by 180 days (6 months) is about $17-18 a day. I’m not familiar with the whole country. But in this low-cost area, you’d be very fortunate to find a place as low as that.
--Lester looks more like a genetically perverted opossum.

He looks like “Goatsucker” from “Lost Side of Suburbia”

Only Lester has more meat on his bones than Chupacabra.

I was hoping Agnes was going to have to work off the bill — lots of humor potential with her “helping out” at the vet’s…
