Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

You don’t see him with an accordian as much as you did years ago.

Around 40 years ago the local FM station had a slogan Use An Accordion, Go To Jail They had bumper sticker and even gave out tee-shirts. A couple of years later they started playing music by Buckwheat Zedico. The station denied the slogan but we still had the Tees.
don’t mean nothing

I used to love Judy Tenuta. She had too many great catchphrases to even begin here… but didn’t she call her accordion her I.U.D.?

Whacking it off? I’m not touching that line.

When I was nine-years old, my mother decided that my older brother and I had to learn to play the accordion.
To that end, during practice sessions, she would hover over me and nag, and nag, and nag until I burst into tears.
Needless to say, that ended after three lessons.
My brother did better; he liked the accordion and played it very well.

Trout has a point. Agnes’ nose could be a major impediment.

Occasionally, I do like accordion music. International fare from France, Mexico, and Germany are known to have accordions in their folk music.

Judy Tunuta does comedy with an accordion.

Don’t forget the downside: You will have to fight off all the accordion player groupies.

you had a hard life, it makes Agnes’ sound rosy in comparison

my Granpa played and his was passed on to me. It was beautiful but I finally gave it to my sister in law because she could actually play it and I could not.
