I bought my neighbor’s non running lawn mower for $5. I had it running in 15 minutes and am still using it 5 years latter. It’s all in how you talk to it!

    .
Seems like a lot of the time it’s following the instructions.
    .
For example: Turn choke to position 1. Push primer to prime carburetor. Pull starter cable.
    .
Then cuss up a storm because one or more instructions was missed and it won’t start…

Got my first mower out of neighbor’s trash (with permission) used it to cut lawns around neighborhood for 2 years until I could afford a new one, three dollars per yard five for hilly and larger yards. Was 11 yrs. old when I started.

adam’s mower seems to have a bail bar. he needs to hold that against the mower’s handle or else it will never start…once it starts, you release the bail to kill the engine. it’s a safety feature they’ve had on mowers for twenty years…

Just give it a good yank.
All it takes to mow is a big jerk.

I can’t start my mower because it has no engine. Just push. My younger son actually uses this old fashioned device to stay in shape I. The off season. It’s a win-win.

I remember my paternal grandmother’s lawnmower – completely push start/stop, needed sharpening after every lawn (I was not allowed to sharpen the blades, even though I was 14 at the time. My maternal grandmother’s lawnmower was completely gas powered and I could do all three acres in less the time of completing the three-quarter acres of paternal grandmama’s lawn, taking into account al of the stumps, trees, and grapevines, not to mention the lawn ornaments as well as the (painted by us) sewer gas cap and other involuntary lawn ’ornamentation intrusions forced on us by the local governments in the name of public safety.

Your 1 should actually be a 2, because 1 should be: Put gas in machine.
