    So she’s named after a female orator (and tax reformer) of acient Rome , and making up a door to door megaphone salesman as an excuse for the noise. I’ll give Basset and Harrel points for subtlety today at least.

    Hortensia needs a few lessons in rescue reality – first, adopters are not the enemy, they are the desired escape for every animal currently confined to a crate or a run. Second, every adopter that is turned away, whether for good reasons or bad, is one more space that is not available for an incoming animal in need – if you don’t adopt them out you either become a hoarder or you close your doors to those in need.

    I love animals MUCH more than people, but I would never treat someone who could provide a loving home for an animal like that bitch treated Laura!

    To those who say that Hotensia cannot be fired because she’s a volunteer:
    Yes she can!
    I volunteer at my synagogue’s weekly soup kitchen, and several other volunteers have been told not to come back because they were too bossy, they were troublemakers, etc.

    I hope no children are reading these comments Susan, it’s fine to be passionate but remember where we are. A lot of times my 7 year old daughter reads over my shoulder.

    Um, I know that you’re voicing what we’re all thinking, but could you not post bad language please? I have a little sister who reads this comic strip, and sometimes she reads it over my shoulder.

    Of course she can be fired! Just because she may not be receiving a salary is no reason to tell her, “her services are no longer required, and don’t ask me for a reference.”
