You know, though, I see lots of girls wearing ripped up pants, today’s fashion statement, and they pay a premium price for them! Not so much guys though!
When I was a kid of about 7 or 8, we had gone to Sears and my mother bought me a new pair of jeans. I was so proud of them, I wanted to wear them out of the store and was allowed to do so. As we were walking out of the store, I tripped over one of the concrete car stops in the parking lot and landed knees first on the asphalt. My face plant tore a hole in the left knee of the brand new jeans. My mother was unhappy to say the least.
I don’t believe in the modern conceit of buying ripped jeans. However, one time my younger daughter ripped a knee of her capris jeans. Someone thought that it was bought that way & complimented her…so I left it.
Remember when Lego was just blocks? We had to use what we called “imagination” to build things, we didn’t build what was on the box. I built so many dragsters, with what I felt was a perfect blown hemi.
Over at “Calvin and Hobbes”, Calvin was reciting a list that included torn pants, grass stains, scratches, tree sap, etc. Hobbes observed that “Consider this day seized!”

When I was that age my jeans always had patches on the knees. Now ripped jeans are a fashion statement.

Zoe has to ask??? I would think she’d jump right up and run to Wanda to tattle that Hammie’s not wearing any pants.
On a different line of thought, how did Hammie tear out both knees and not skin, scrap or otherwise cut his knees to show off as well?

If your Mom doesn’t know how to sew, are you better off dead?

From experience – patches are much more embarrassing than rips!

Me: Why aren’t you wearing any pants?
My six-year old daughter: Because I’m airing out my butt.

Some people are paying big money now to buy jeans with rips and holes. Go figure!

Yeah I believe it was obviously a brag. On the other hand, a child should keep his mother happy.
