Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said he spoke to Egypt’s intelligence chief and “stressed the positive spirit of the movement in studying the cease-fire proposal.” I’m cautiously optimistic a deal happens & the IDF Rafah operation is called off.

Either way, the Gaza War is over by late August. This isn’t 1968, when young people were motivated by the prospect of personally being drafted to fight in a war they opposed, but many on the right are salivating over the prospect of violence. This should tell you something about what sort of people they are.

It might be advised to not vacation in Chicago this Summer, particularly around the time of the Democrat Convention. “From the Chicago river to Lake Michigan. Then the city will crawl with intifada scum.” Will there be some “very fine people on both sides?”

There will be no Convention. Biden will not be the candidate. The party bosses will use the threat from their own members to just do what they want.

Maybe, but let’s carry the analogy further. Both years feature a paranoid, crooked, authoritarian-minded GOP candidate with a “secret plan” to end a war. What could go wrong if we elected the 2024 version?

Outside agitators have been stirring this pot, for whose benefit? Think about it, and the Republican’s history of dirty tricks (remember little Donnie Segretti?) Good chance this is a right-wing/Russian-directed attempt to create chaos and social unrest to try to, as Bokkie here points out, screw the Dems.

In a way, Bok is being honest in that his (and other’s) motive is to link the Democrats with Hamas. It’s like when the conservatives say the quiet part out loud. In reality, the Democrats will have the same lukewarm ritual. The leftists will feel sold out and I doubt there will be any aggressive rhetoric. Whereas, the GOP will have the golden statue of Trump, the spectacle of evangelicals and the regular parade of buffoons in Trump regalia. It is quite possible that a new Trump flag will be revealed, calls for armed “observers” at polling places and just maybe the introduction of an inner group of Trump supporters in matching outfits, who are pledged to the cause.

Aim well, Democrats! You won’t get a second chance.
