Poor Russia. Their entire modern history, maybe longer, has been one of oppression. The Tsars, then the Bolsheviks and the decades of Soviet rule, and then finally Democracy – But with a nasty twist. I’d like to think there’s a light of true freedom ahead for the people of Russia, that Putin is a temporary thumb on the scale that will balance once he’s gone. But, I’m not holding my breath.

This is specifically referring to Navalny, the opposition leader. He’ll probably end up the same way as Nemtsov, i.e., dead.
