The only reason for China’s position is it’s abhorant behavior in Hong Kong, their claims to lands and seas that are not theirs, that they want to take by force.
If it was a purely economic decision, it would be a no brainer. 1.6 trillion of trade to the west or 100,000 billion in trade to Russia.
As it is, there are many companies in the USA trying to bring back at least some manufacturing to the USA. However, all those factories didn’t move to China overnight, and it will take just as long to build and employ those factories.
