Must be Angolagate.
But I wish I could know Dobritz’s contexts. Usually financial but sometimes a little tricky to figure out as I don’t follow French press. This is a story I know about in the Portuguese press.
“The son of former French president François Mitterrand, Jean-Christophe, and Senator Charles Pasqua, a former French interior minister, are among those convicted by a Paris court in the “Angolagate” arms-to-Africa trial.”
(I’m not entirely happy with the ‘toon…but I do like the image of a heavy tank being carried by a woman. Quite apt)
Dtroutma, your knowledge of French military history is most impressive ; may I ask just where you acquired it ? But the French did have the great good sense to leave Vietnam after Điện Biên Phủ ; pity that it took the United States more than twenty additional years and millions of deaths (that is what I call terrorism - state terrorism) to learn the same lesson. And now, it would seem, it’s deja vu all over again….

That lady in that cartoon pith, she appears to be able to carry anything on her head, as well as tanks.

Parker: Your comment has gone, whooosh, straight over his head. Either his reply is disingenuous or just shows plain ignorance. I hope the latter.

^ A bit late in responding, but I think you’re correct if one knows a little about Africa even if taking a generalised view.
