I remember great crop failure of 1956 in USSR, now defunct. Government's Five-Year Plan did not vork! And the winter snows came early. Food vas rationed! There ver long lines at markets! Ludmilla made soup using bark of trees and small potatoes... Ve vas pretty hungry, for sure! Evelyn: Ludmilla... be a dear and don't eat the decorations!
Not sure if my western friends know why the bright future of communism never came – it was because of its five enemies: four seasons (that always, just always came unexpectedly!) and international imperialism.
