Trust erodes certain protective personality traits, particularly suspicion, wariness and caution. Absence of suspicion creates an impression of weakness. People exploit weakness. Exploitation of weakness causes emotional distress in victim, especially in cases of betrayal. Negative emotions cause stress. Stress leads to heart disease, stroke, bulima, obesity, insomnia, and premature death.
