Ted Rall for April 27, 1998
In 1992, I was a poor, struggling cartoonist. A friend suggested that I apply for an NEA grant. (Man: They paid me $10,000 to paint dead trees in the bronx purple.) (Man 2: Man, I am so dumb, working three jobs- I'm getting those forms today!) (Man 3: The committee loved your slides, Ted, but cartoons aren't real art. Only paintings of cartoons are real art!) In other words, if you're reading this, the government has determined illiterate baboon, but that's gonna end now... (Man 2: Sure, I read at the fifth-grade level... it's the highest quality available!) Welcome to high-class cartoons! (Man 2: Please send money now! Please?
