The trouble with this cartoon has to do with the jobs each rep will be willing to do. The south-of-the-border fellow will do jobs the GM worker won’t even consider. Furthermore, the GM worker is probably living beyond his means whereas the immigrant is truly working to live. And with unemployment being so much higher that it was when I was first in the work force, there is incentive to stay unemployed.
