The GOP seems to have totally abandoned the altruism, honesty, integrity, inclusion, and loyalty to the US Constitution that Lincoln, TR, Ike, et al embodied as they protect a polar opposite to their pro-American past and bow to authoritarianism.
What is even sadder is exactly how far the Republiscam party has fallen under the influence of big business and Foreign Governments. it’s even sadder when you think that they USED to think like this: From a Speech by REPUBLICAN Senator from Pennsylvania, Daniel J. Morrell, given to Congress in 1866: In his first speech in Congress Mr. Morrell uttered the following plea for labor: “The American workingman must live in a house, not a hut; he must wear decent clothes and eat wholesome and nourishing food. He is an integral part of the municipality, the State, and the Nation; subject to no fetters of class or caste; neither pauper, nor peasant, nor serf, but a free American citizen.” “He has the ballot, and if it were possible it would be dangerous to degrade him. The country stands pledged to give him education, political power, and a higher form of life than foreign nations accord their laborers, and he must be sustained by higher rates of wages than those of Europe. Our industries operated by American citizens must be freed from foreign interference and organized into a distinct American system, which will exact some temporary sacrifices but result in general prosperity and true national independence. In maintaining diversified industries we utilize every talent, provide a field for every capacity, and bind together the whole people in mutual dependence and support, assuring the strength and security of our Republic.”
As a Republican since 1980, I despise the character of this thin-skinned, boorish president that we now have. But since I am not a Democrat, politics is not my religion, so I care less about his character, and more about his accomplishments, which are legion. What Steve get wrong about this picture is that Trump doesn’t need the Republican party to protect him. They do what they do to protect themselves, as I will not stand with a party that bows to the charade perpetrated by the Democrats and their lap dogs in the media.
If you think about it those elephants don’t have enough oomph to carry guns. Seems to me that the elephants would be spot on if they hand that hand down their pants.
And how does this make you feel Mr. Breen? You’ve shown over and over that you are a conservative (probably Republican) but that you aren’t a fan of the President. Will you vote for his opponent in 2020 or will you stay with the party?
I’m really trying to get a feel for how a real conservative voter feels.
The repu-ignorant party today is certainly not Teddy Roosevelt’s party either much less Morrells. Morrell was responsible for making HBCUs Agriculture research institutions just as the White colleges were. I know because I taught at one of first Ag HBCs, Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO
Do you know that while all this is going on, Trump is holding on to a hundred million dollars in Aid Congress voted for Lebanon? This isn’t his thinking or his choice or his idea. This is purely Putin.
An investigation reviewing documents revealing Mulvaney’s attempts to retroactively justify the OMB hold on Ukraine’s money has exposed that many others’ approved funds have been frozen as well.As Mulvaney snapped, “We do this all the time. Get over it!”This could the tip of the ice burg. Hope it’s a tipping point.
