It is already the case that no federal money can be used to pay for abortions, at Planned Parenthood or elsewhere, and these states trying to defund Planned Parenthood are free to enact the same kinds of legislation at their state levels.
So a state ban on allowing ANY Medicaid funding to go to qualified medical providers at Planned Parenthood for NON abortion medical care (cancer screenings, infertility treatments, urinary tract infections, mammograms, birth control that prevents unwanted pregnancies, etc.) including their men’s clinic is discriminatory and arbitrary.
For Kavanaugh to refuse an appeal of rulings to prohibit such state bans on NON abortion care really has nothing to do with abortion, so it is an easy way for Kavanaugh to create the illusion of being independent on the issue.
The real test will come when the case is actually about abortion access, and not a cheap shot at a specific medical provider whose abortion services are LESS THAN THREE PERCENT of its total activity.
