The Senate retains the special power granted to it for confirmations.
The House, now in new hands, will finally assume its rightful powers of investigation (investigations of potential impeachments must originate in the House) and also fiscal oversight (all revenue bills must originate in the House [Constitution: Article I, Section 7]).
While the Senate does have its own powers of investigation, that power is entirely independent of the House and the Senate has ZERO power or authority to impede the House in its ability to use the powers of checks and balances — too long abdicated by Republicans who once cared about responsibility and decency — including powers of investigation and subpoena.
