I reside in the UK, about 30 miles from London, and I’ve immigrated 3 times, all legally and I intend to emigrate once more. I know migrants of all stripes & colours from different regions in the world.
I simply don’t know what local taxation for goods & services are levied in each & every single state in the US since it appears they differ somewhat from state to state.
petergrt said ”Many so-called illegals”
“So-called”…what, is that a euphemism for, what is you really want to call them? Ah yes, criminals, non-people.
petergrt proclaimed: ”Most come to make money to support their families at home.”
Bloody hell, you mean not everyone wants to be American? Oh no. How can that be so. :-| You mean, they just want to provide for their families back home? Gosh, that is so selfish of them, not wanting to be Americans, how dare they take care of their familes before country.
petergrt complains futher: “They have created a vast underground, cash economy, which produces very little tax revenue”
Integrate them, don’t allow their cash economy to escape taxation. They are there. they are not going away because someone pays them. They are performing a role. To blame them for being willing to perform that role at a lower cost is blaming the wrong target. They are the most vulnerable & weakest in the black market economy.
Public services clogged by them? Why not make insurance available to them. If they pay, more cash for public service coffers. Criminalising them further forces them deeper into the underworld. Disproportionally high criminal element among them? Stop allowing conditions that criminalise them.
If constant immigration amnesties don’t work i.e. you legalise some but yet more come later, what does that tell you about the labour market and all those who participate in it, including the employers? Btw, each time amnesties are conceded, you get more residents paying fair taxes!
The only way to stop illegal immigration is to ensure their countries of origin aren’t sending them in the first place. Not your problem, the economies of the developing nations? Oh yes they are, their citizens are heading your way and you’re complaining.
