I slog through a lot of puns (so, so many puns) so that I can enjoy these rare gems from Hilburn. For me, he’s at his best when he channels his inner Gary Larson and gives us something surreal and funny. Cartoons like this one keep me coming back :)

I’m a big fan of this comic, but I’m struggling to see the humor here – feel like I’m missing something. That’s actually what brought me to the comments section. Was there a funny result of the cracking, or a funny reason that led to it? I was looking for a clue as to why Judy would be creating easy-to-crack passwords or something.

Also, that guy just fast-forwarded their relationship through dating, engagement, and the first five years of marriage.

I don’t know, she looks pleasantly surprised. I think secretly, she felt the same way. But she can’t seem too eager, so she’s going to play it cool. Just a little smile, followed by “yeah, we can try that if you want…”

I love F Minus, but this one is especially great. I had to chime in and say “thanks” to the author :) For those who don’t quite get it, a common expression is “pinch me, I must be dreaming” – as if being pinched would help you figure out if you’re awake or not. Obviously, it doesn’t always :)

I was just thinking that! It worried me enough that I came here to make sure that wasn’t the case!

    I don’t get it.

This confusion is what happens when you make references to two completely different things that both happened OVER 30 YEARS ago. On top of that, what the heck is the point? It might as well be two donkeys wearing sombreros if they’re just spitting out old song references for no apparent reason.

Yeah – maybe a better punchline might have been “Ms. Harvey, you HAVE to stop letting your son snort catnip.”

I don’t get it. I understand there’s a cat up the kid’s nose, but surely that’s not the joke? If so, what would be the point?

He mentions “Ms. Harvey”, and that the kid’s name is “Jimmy”. Usually that would mean the artist is referring to an adult named “James Harvey” or “Jim Harvey” – possibly someone who, in the last 20 years, put something he shouldn’t have up his nose.

Or maybe the doctor (who obviously hasn’t seen jimmy yet) is in for a big surprise when he sees it’s a cat? If it’s just “a kid got a cat stuck up his nose, don’t kids do the darndest things??” I’m going to be disappointed. But I guess the fact that I have to have the joke explained to me has already done that.
