I’m a computer scientist by training, but my wife and I are hobbyist costumers and enjoy creating and wearing both sci-fi/fantasy and historical costumes. I also edit "The Virtual Costumer", a quarterly online costuming magazine, published by the Silicon Web Costumers' Guild, a chapter of the International Costumers’ Guild. Most costumers recreate existing designs from movies, TV, or history, but sometimes I get to do original designs, which is exciting and a little intimidating.

Al may appear to be a “speed bump” but If you want to see a real romantic, he’s it. She’s in an emotional crisis and he’s willing to spend a little money to make sure she is happy. So what if he has to store the stuff for 10 years? If his past behavior is any guide, I’m willing to be that he has a plan. But for now, he’s thinking of her happiness, and that’s my definition of “romantic.”

“Did I miss the contest to design Toni’s honeymoon lingerie?”
No contest, but I’d have been happy throw in the lingerie designs if Toni had asked. ;^)
If 600+ people wanted to design her dress, imagine how popular the lingerie contest would have been. The only problem might be posting some of the entries…

I just want to say how much I admire the work Sheriff Mordecal does in coloring Luann. It’s a very difficult job, and adds immeasurably to the the strip. I always go to today’s online version so I can enjoy the details of the color work. I second your statement that Greg is a wonderful person to work with. You two are lucky to have such a great relationship.

I LOVE Soupy Sales! I lived in Detroit while his show was on. I was really into puppetry, and White Fang and Black Tooth were two of my favorites. My mom got tickets to the show at WJBK as a birthday treat, and I got to meet Soupy Sales and try on Black Tooth. I could do both of their voices, and Soupy thought it was just hilarious.That was over 50 years ago, so it really must have made an impression.

If I were making Toni’s dress, I’d use an off-white, color-on-color floral jacquard pattern, maybe something like this:

With Toni’s complexion and hair coloring, off-white is better for her than white. I didn’t indicate the pattern in my drawing because it wouldn’t read well in a comic strip.
