Gilded Age. There are a couple other factors—-time (fast food is fast) and the fact that people naturally like sweet, salty, fatty food, and the food industry panders to and encourages that preference, from infancy on. Right now, I would love to go through a bag of BBQ potato chips (but won’t).

Many theologians say animals have souls (or they couldn’t move) but not spirits, so they are not immortal. Me, I think (1) God loves us and would want us to have what we love in the next life, and (2) there’s supposed to be a new, perfected creation, and animals would surely be part of that—-Isaiah’s vision. Looking forward to seeing our Remy again.
