    It may be significant that when the Commonwealth of Australia was formed, observers had spent time in the USA.

    The Speaker of Parliament has the right to impose STRICT restrictions on how long members may speak. :)

    Templo: Whilst that’s KIND of true, in fact he was mostly considered heretical as a form of revenge by his university colleagues who he’d managed to upset to such a degree that they called in favours from the church (who ran the university). His scientific ideas wouldn’t have caused a big stir if he had have been a more reasonable human being . . . .

    I’d suggest that the claim is likely bogus, although the bureaucrats don’t care enough to call him on it. :)

    Unfortunately Halloween is not generally celebrated in Australia . . .

    However, if you look at him now, he’s growing an impressive beard, so he actually looks reasonable. You can see the scars if you look carefully, and he lost a bit of his tongue so his speech is a bit weird, but he’s otherwise in pretty good shape for a guy who took a chainsaw in the face. . . .
