Most of the antipathy toward Obama is because rednecks and some white men can stand the idea of a Black man living in the White House.

It really doesn’t matter which candidate, Democrat or Republican, wins. They get their marching orders from the plutocrats who put them there. One way out may be to support this effort: http://www.americanselect.org/

“When religions manipulate their members and perpetrate evil — and every one, with the possible exception of Confucianism, has at some point — they can only do so by pandering to the evil inclinations inside each of their individual members.”

While it may pander to some individual’s evil inclinations, organized religion manipulates the faithful primarily by creating illusions and fairy tales, by convincing them that if they “behave,” a greater reward awaits them..“Do away with organized religion, and you’ll have small-scale, universal evil, without the balance of better moral teachings that all religions promote, however poorly they sometimes live up to them. You wouldn’t have Heaven, but you most certainly would have Hell.”

On the other hand, with organized religion you’ve had Christians killing Muslims and Muslims killing Christians for millennia, on a large scale, and continuing today in the Middle East––a living Hell for sure. Politicians of course promote inter-religious strife because it allows them to then use their armies to wrest control of natural resources. Mideast oil comes to mind.

I am a Progressive. I am not anti-business or anti-profit. What I object to is favoritism, how the game is tilted toward Corporations, the wealthy and influential. And the solution to that is eliminating campaign contributions, reversing the Citizens United decision and providing term limits.

All organized religions have as their primary motive control over their faithful. If these faithful came to realize that there is in fact no Heaven, no Olam HaEmet, no 72 virgins waiting for you, that what they have while living on this earth is all there is, then one would see a massive revolt against the poverty, hunger and want politicians and “spiritual” leaders foist upon them.

The late great comedian Sam Kinison had the right idea in one of his bits––don’t send them food, send them U-hauls to move away from the desert. “It’s a desert, food doesn’t grow there!” he said.

It’s not fascism, it’s not communism, or even socialism. This country has ceased to be a democratic republic––it is now a plutocracy, a system of government controlled by Corporations and Wealth. The Tea Party yokels have been co-opted by the Republican party, and corporate backers like the Koch brothers. This was facilitated by the Citizen’s United decision handed down by the Supreme Court and its conservative majority. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. The plutocrats have succeeded in programming brain-dead Americans using corporate owned media, and the likes of Limbaugh, Beck and Fox News, to simply sit back and continue getting screwed by corporate-backed political hacks. Yes these Tea Party dupes actually believe that more tax cuts for the super rich, and more war mongering to support the defense industies are better for this country than helping seniors with Medicare and Social Security, educating our children and then helping them go to college.
