I had a cat that could hold a pill long enough to spit it out like that. We’d get it in his mouth, rub his throat to encourage him to swallow, let him go when we thought it was down, and he’d go spit the pill out under the table.

My kids are pretty good about not peeking. Most presents go in our closet, but this year we have one that would be too much trouble to get upstairs, so we put it in the garage, put painter’s tape over the knob, and told the kids that it was there to remind them to stay out of the garage. We don’t park in there, so it’s not a big deal to keep them out.

Our house alarm system beeps if that door opens, so the kids can’t even sneak in there if we’re home. Beep gives it away.

I gave up on buying Thin Mints when I discovered my local dollar store carries an excellent chocolate mint cookie year round.

I have to disagree. I live in California, so nice and liberal, and two of the schools my kids have attended didn’t bother with honor roll. Current one does, but before that, no. Most students aren’t on it, by a long shot.

One of my husband’s favorite Halloween costumes is to dress up as the Grim Reaper, but rather than a skull mask, he wears a clown nose.

My kids love hula hoops. I’m not sure why it is, but both times we’ve rented a house with a back yard, there has been a hula hoop already in the yard. Not even broken ones, they were perfectly good.

My husband is much harder on our books than I am, and it drives me up the wall.
