When I was in school, there was a school crossing guard, and even at times kids covered the spot, being member of what was termed the ‘Safety Patrol.’ Member of this patrol even had a badge to wear and they carried a two sided sign on a stick which said STOP on one side and GO on the other to allow us kids across the street by our school.
