When I was in college, a friend of mine from Hong Kong offered to drive me home, 2+ hours away on the Washington Coast for Christmas break. He wanted to see the Ocean so we drove over to Westport where the cranberry bogs were in full harvest. He wanted to drive on the beach as there was nobody there on a typical, wet and windy December day. I tried to talk him out of it but he insisted and after maybe ten minutes we got stuck but good. We labored for a half hour or so when some guy in a small pickup drove by and helped us dig out. Got a well-deserved lecture about how dumb we were to drive on the beach that time of the year.
