Tent reads: CIRCUS
Sluggo: I gotta stay on my toes---There's a new boss arriving today.
Door reads: MAIN OFFICE
Man: I need some help with this stuff. Hey, kid---Bring the trunk into my office.
I enjoyed this comic and others (such as Little Lulu) when I was a kid, but it never occurred to me, as it does now, that these children seemed to live in a world without a lot of adult supervision. They went where they wanted and did grownup kinds of things, like having a job at the circus. Even Nancy, who lives with an adult, walks around in her universe with confidence, sass, and decisions she makes on her own without consulting her aunt.
