Sluggo: Today I take my foist lesson in wire-walking. Oh-oh---A black cat. SCRAM-- You make me nervous.
Hope there’s a net down below.
What did Sluggo expect? He probably just finished feeding the seals their fish..And does “foist” point to a New York or Georgia accent?
“Foist” is a somewhat inaccurate rendering of the NYC/Bronx/Brooklyn/NJ patois. The real vowel they use is more complex than “oi.”
Well, technically, he’s not CROSSING your path…
What, no balance pole, no net, no teacher??Beginners do NOT start on the high wire, they startabout 2 or 3 feet off the ground.
Panel 3 — that should be “noivous.” I thing Sluggo’s faking it, and forgets some time.
Can’t duck him. But did Sluggo always talk like that? This I don’t remember.
