No, Mikey, et al, have very Convenient memories, they only remember to be concerned about the National Debt AFTER the GQP has rocketed it to undreamed of heights- but are all Over it when the Democrats don’t run it even higher, as fast as the GQP did. The GQP ‘Policy’ is quite simple….Break the economy (usually by looting the middle class), and then wait for the Democrats to rebuild it to where its worth looting again. Rinse and repeat.

Another ‘issue’ for Republicans to weaponize and LIE about.

Republicans have NEVER reduced spending since Eisenhower. What they DO reduce is tax revenues from the rich and from patriotic multinational corporations.

While claiming that extra money will eventually trickle down. You know, eventually.

Must not be anything real to complain about this weekend. The (GOP caused) budget problems are always a good fallback for enticing a few more buck$ out of RWNJs.

Ramirez and his kind only care about debt when Democrat is in office, ignoring the fact that Republican presidents have been responsible for most of the debt and deficit since Reagan.

Funny how the Rethugican “Freedom (AKA Chaos) Caucus” wants to terrorize Congress by threatening shutdowns, unless social programs keeping literally millions of Americans alive are cut. But never bring up fair taxation for corporations and the billionaires boys club. Guess it’s the massive deficit of having no compassion.

So, why are you expecting Biden to fix a national debt that’s been exasperated by the GOP fighting 3 unfunded wars over the last 35 years and hading out tax cuts to the wealthy? The debt is largely CAUSED by the GOP.

Every Democratic administration in the last century reduced the deficit and therefore the rate of debt growth. Every GOP administration in the last century made the debt worse. The better solution is to get rid of the GOP!!!!!

Democrats couldn’t care less about the national debt! How else to explain Bidens wasteful spending that resulted in the highest inflation since Jimmy Carter, another loony, weak, loser democrat.

Something is broken in Washington D.C. It is evident that ALL upward spending is without restraint. It is evident that ALL efforts to restrain this upward spiral will be defeated. And, both parties are complicit or helpless. This won’t end well.

Hemingway: “How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.

“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”

How can there be a national debt, Trump pays a lot of income taxes (almost $ 800.00 a year) so we should have enough to do whatever we want.

We can always end republican tax breaks for rich republicans and make the rich pay their fair share for the first time since Reagan. Republican tax breaks for the rich turned the middle class into the working poor.

Reminds me of the movie “The Duel” where Dennis Weaver is chased by an evil, black Peterbilt 18-wheeler. Weaver escaped but Biden will be crushed in the 2024 elections. It’s the economy, stupid (and immigration).

When the Republicans have the White House they run up the debt. When Busch 1 began running up the debt, Chaney explained “Reagan has proven that Deficits Don’t Matter". They only become an issue for Republicans when a Democrat is in the White House and the bills need to be paid. Then they do this charade so that they can blame the Democrats and make points for the next election.

Reagan took the deficit from 70 billion to 175 billion.

Bush 41 took it to 300 billion.

    Clinton got it to zero.

Bush 43 took it from 0 to 1.2 trillion.

Obama halved it to 600 billion.

Trump got it back to a trillion.

Biden reduced it $350 billion his first year in office. And the budget office expects to see it drop by another 1 trillion, 500 billion dollars – the largest drop ever. This is despite a $1.9 Trillion pandemic relief package. The Republicans screamed about this at the time, but it is credited with funding a faster recovery than anywhere else in the world, and actually decreasing the debt further.

It’s always amazing when Republican Presidents are doing nothing, but raising the debt, not a peep about the trillions in debt they cause. Be it W. Bush’s illegal wars or just plain ol’ tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans and corporations, that already didn’t pay their fair share to support the infrastructure and nation that provides them with that wealth.

Democrats can reduce the debt, or in President Clinton’s case, nearly eliminate it, and all the Repubs do is lie about them increasing it.

I say we rescind all the tax cuts for the wealthy made since Reagan, give tax cuts to the wealthy. Give child tax credits to those struggling to pay their bills and lift children out of poverty. Funny thing, is that would still not only pay off the deficit, but have enough money to fully fund all the necessary things, like Police departments, Education, Emergency services and pave a way for a universal health system. Guess what? the wealthy would still be getting wealthy, as they were before all the unnecessary tax cuts they’ve enjoyed.

Reagan tripled the National debt while crashing the economy in the worst recession since 1929, Bush2 tripled it again, had two recessions – the 2nd surpassing Reagan’s – to the very depths of the 1929 crash. Obama paid down the National debt, tRump blew it away. Biden has paid down the National debt once already and is planning a 2nd pay down. If we can keep Republican/conservatives out of our government we might get our National Debt in control to be paid down as was with Bill Clinton’s plan that they discarded.

Republican and Democrat administrations have made equal contributions to the debt, though it accelerated sharply during Trump’s four years. And as XF8U points out, “conservatives” (and I assume that Mr Ramirez is one) complain about debts and deficits only when a Democrat is in the White House.

The FACT is that the national debt ROSE under Republican Presidents, including Trump (the tax cuts did NOT pay for themselves). The last time the National Debt was effectively delt with was under Bill Clinton. And during Obama’s last couple of years in office he his budget included paying down the national debt even if it didn’t remove it. Plus, we CHOSE (and continue to choose to ignore) the effects of climate change which has added a ton to the national debt. The fire in Maui, the RECORD hurricanes, tornados, flooding, and other national disasters that require FEMA funds, not to mention federal funds to rebuild federal buildings, federal highways, and help states with their state buildings, schools, roads and infrastructure damaged by disasters. At 68 for most of life major disasters were few and far between. Yes, there were always tornados and hurricanes, but Level 4 or 5 were rare, and there weren’t as many in as many areas. We are talking about record breaking storms that, even if you don’t care about the human suffering, have a cumulative cost of billions a year — and good luck trying to get home insurance in these areas, like Florida. BOTH Democrat and Republican administrations spend money. But that is what the current Republican party does (as opposed to the one I used to belong to), they simply blame everything wrong on Democrats without ever coming up with their own solution.

We could fix the deficit at any moment if Republicans wanted to, but they absolutely don’t. For instance, the first thing they floated doing after re-taking the House was to cut taxes on the rich again. The first thing they actually passed was gutting the IRS again after it had clawed back half a Billion dollars from rich tax cheats and hitting Microsoft with a huge tax bill from their intentional underpayments. Republicans want a government that arms the military and police while doing absolutely nothing else. No regulations, no food inspections, no education funding (they might slip that in but only for private schools for the very rich), etc. Everyone can starve and die for all they care because they’re are owned spine, soul, and mind by the 1%. Why a single non-millionaire votes Republican makes no sense. They literally hate your guts and want to work you to death which should happen the second they fire you. All while paying you nothing.
