Amazing to see that Lisa Benson and so many other CONSERVATIVES even understand that the Trump TAX INCREASES ON CONSUMERS (aka: Tariffs) will hurt the economy.
From Iowa, both Republican senators (Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst) have condemned the tariffs, and numerous REPUBLICAN commentators have pointed out the simple economic facts:
MEXICO will not pay for the tariffs, CONSUMERS will (and Mexico will also NOT PAY for any darn wall).
CHINA will not pay for the tariffs, CONSUMERS will.
Tread carefully, Mr Trump. Your Republican allies already have gotten everything they wanted out of you. They got their tax giveaway for the rich and corporate welfare; they got their right-wing Supreme Court judges.
But Wall $treet does NOT like these tariffs.
And as they look back on the 2018 rout in votes in both House (8 million vote margin for Democrats; gaining 42 seats; 10 — TEN — million vote margin for Democrats in the Senate, but concentrated in Democratic states such as California, and losing two seats because Democrats were defending the most seats, but the opposite is true in 2020, a high-turnout presidential year in which Republicans have the most seats up for vote), and ahead to 2020 (Republicans defending the most senate seats; high-turnout presidential year), Republicans might be very happy with what they already have, and willing to DUMP TRUMP in an impeachment conviction and run with a much more stable, much more reliable conservative like Mike Pence.
