There was a request for 300million to upgrade security at consulates and embassies worldwide. It was part of a bill the Republicans threatened to filibuster so it didn’t get passed. The deaths in Benghazi were a result of a criminal lack of bipartisanship in the committees responsible for pushing that bill through, even if it had to go without riders or earmarks attached. There are STILL understaffed and underdefended posts waiting for money that won’t even be discussed until this election is over. And dtroutma’s example is much more apropo than ConserveGov. That white van drove through a guard gate and was able to get close enough to that poorly built building to detonate and cause each floor to collapse on the one beneath. Reagan didn’t choose that building, he trusted the officers in the field to do what the mission required. Obama did the same thing in Libya. A president has to delegate responsibilities to people trained to the tasks, and the legislature has to make sure there is funding for the missions. If there was a failure of leadership in the oval office, there was also a failure of support under the capital dome.Respectfully,C.
