This nation has never had one-person, one vote at the national level.
Whether it was denying non-landowners, African Americans or women the right to vote, or creating a system that would allow for a voter in Wyoming or Montana to have almost FOUR TIMES the voting power of a voter in California, or allowing that candidates receiving FEWER VOTES than their opponents would “win” and election, this nation has NEVER had a truly democratic republic (government by representatives elected by the people).
Solutions:
Long range — abolish the Electoral College (requires a Constitutional Amendment)
Short range — enact the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact
