“Christie may have his flaws, but the left is scared witless of someone that is outside the system and speaks frankly.”
You may be confusing left and right. Does the name John Huntsman come to mind? Former governor of Utah, ambassador to China. Speaks fluent Mandarin. Well-read and very intelligent. Republican. Doesn’t believe in creationism, recognizes that access to birth control reduces demand for abortion, fiscally conservative but more balanced plans than to only totally remove social programs.
I am sure that many of our “lefties” would have voted for him if we only had the chance. Unfortunately, he was the first one out of the race for presidential candidates. Republicans thought Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum were better choices. Scared witless indeed.
And to all who continue to bring up this administration’s scandals, what would you say if Mr. Obama used taxpayer money to do his own personal inquiry and came up with the conclusion that he had nothing to do with it? I’m willing to bet that it would be far harsher than the tepid response for Mr. Christie’s doing just that.
I like Mr. Christie. He has shown that he is willing to do what he thinks is right, whether it passes his party’s muster. But this type of thing, and other incidents like his using a state-funded helicopter to go to his son’s baseball game, gives me pause.
