Solyndra filed in 2007 for the DOE loan guarantee. (got it in 2009- the effort was to keep jobs here in the U.S.) Chapter 11 isn’t “good”, but it ain’t over till the fat lady sings. Solar in the U.S. is strong, as is wind and other alternatives, but it’s tough to beat “cut rate pricing” from overseas with new technology, when American corporations ARE the ones backing that foreign “investment” rather than production facilities here at home.
As to “diversion”? How about we send ALL politicians to jail for taking bribes, payoffs, or violating election laws? Oh, wait, what’s the use, as since Reagan, almost any law cutting off graft, has been eliminated by mostly Republican, but also Democratic legislators who owe more to K Street and Wall Street, than “Main Street”. Public financing, only, of all elections would be a big step forward for re-establishing some controls.
