The discipline has to fit the child - age, temperament & offense. Spanking works for the young child who doesn’t grasp the connection between the offense and a delayed punishment. For older children, other means do seem to be more effective.
An adult can deal with a child without resorting to corporal Punishment. It teaches nothing that is positive. Only a weak, disfunctional person would want to hurt a child for misbehaving.
