The squirrels around here are acting very intense about stashing whole pine cones (usually they just stash the seeds). That seems like it should presage an extra wintry winter, so November weather might be expected to start sooner. Of course if you don’t believe that the length of the wooly-bear fur, or the desperation of the squirrels is an adequate predictor, then you’d have to go with climate change which predicts that November weather should, on average, start later.
