Multiple errands with bags? I go shopping once a week, at the weekends. During working days, I am using public trains/metro/trams. I see people, and I read. I can concentrate on reading, no staring on the street, stop and go, waiting for traffic lights. It’s wonderful. Sometimes I meet people I have not been seeing for a long time, sometimes I get engaged in a conversation with people I have never seen before. For few shop items, I have a bag. Small errands with a bag is no problem for me. Why should it be for anybody? Supposed you have a decent public traffic system in your city, of course. BTW, before I had kids, I didn’t own a car at all. Sometimes I rent one, that was about every two months or so. I saved the money for more important things. Like an annual season-ticket for the whole town. Which was much cheaper than owning a car.
