charlie what you don’t acknowledge is that some people cannot purchase individual insurance plans because insurers won’t sell them. And when they do deign to sell an individual policy, they exclude any pre-existing condition from coverage, charge outrageous premiums with large deductibles and co-pays. You make it sound as if self-employed people are irresponsible, when the truth is they are being shafted by insurers and have no clout to do anything about it. Do you really believe that in the USA self-employed people or those who work for small businesses should become destitute before they can get medical care in the form of Medicaid? That simply makes no sense! It’s not good public policy, nor good fiscal policy!
