The cow moose stays with her new offspring for about a year & a half. During this time, she teaches junior everything he needs to know, about what to eat, what predators to avoid, and other survival skills. After the second Summer season, just as the new mating (rutting) season begins, that’s it! If junior hasn’t gone off on his own by this time, she will drive him away! She wants to return to adult social circles, meet a new bull, and do it again! (tramp!) Junior can never go home again!
Another comment, somewhat related to this ’toon.
