But they soon will know about homosexual history in California. Even though they cannot read or write.

ha! (oh crap, I laughed out loud in A Dana Summers ‘toon) My pet peeve on this forum is not the bigotry, the partisanship, the constant ad hominem slurs & attacks back & forth (sheesh I do have many peeves), it’s the geographical ignorance shown by the Gocomics staff. Their Views ’toon mistakes are legendary. However, if it makes you Americans feel any better, the average rest-of-the-world are as ignorant.

You DO realize that your link is pro public education (which is gubbermint) and that it requires LOTS of cash for books, buildings, computers, and above all highly paid teachers.

And BTW one lesson in sex ed does not equate to a whole semester or an entire curriculum.

chuck— I’m sure you’re also aware we owe something to the Vietnamese, like will, Ho, who helped us kick the Japanese out of “French” Indochina as well— too bad we double crossed them, twice.(’45 and 54)

I took at look at #3. No where does it say that their schools are (or are not) funding football games. Do you read what you put up or do you make stuff up and hope nobody reads it? It states that Finland (the country) has to boost investment into schools.

You forgot to read the part that comes after that. It states, “Except for guidelines for learning goals and assessment criteria”, which I read as the school can do what it wants so long as it is within State standards.

In essence its saying that schools should be funded with our tax dollars and be left up to the teachers and parents to decide what is worth teaching, provided that it the material meets state requirements.

We took the Philippines from the Spanish, and Japan needed OUR oil for expansion of the empire, kinda’ the way we regard the Middle East, west Africa, Canada, Venezuela and a few other places today. The history of Tonkin China, and the lessons, were lost on Americans ignorant of world history, like in the Philippines, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, African nations, and the Americas beyond our borders. Actually I’ve had quite a few college classes, and a course in faulty imperialism as a number of my friends, a large number, are listed on a wall with 58,000 of our fellows who didn’t come home.

LIke OmQ R, I laughed at the irony of the ‘toon, and the fact we’d consider a candidate who knows the history of that “country” called “Africa”.

The highest producing well in the history of Conoco by the way was the one they hit in the South China Sea, in Vietnamese territorial waters, so as to the importance of that area, and the contribution of the Philippine people who fought for us, just like the Vietnamese- I guess Churchie, you would prefer our children remain ignorant of their history as well. Of course, I also consider Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse bigger heros than an egomaniac that got his troops killed because he was an idiot.

We owe because it was a U.S. territory & they were employed by the U.S. military, though MacArthur made promises above his paygrade.

No, but one may have the tendency to write fast – do the math or is that an issue too?

Harleykinns said, “Those teachers do not fear there jobs.”

That’s cuz nobody is coming AFTER their jobs, their pay, or their benefits. And for the love of God learn to spell! You’re a perfect poster child for why home schooling doesn’t work.
