Ryan voted for Medicare Part D, which was deficit financed (not paid for). I can’t wait to hear his rationalization. -Not much of a deficit Hawk when it’s the Republicans shoveling out the money. Now he’s paired with the ChickenHawk.

‘Guy says to me earlier, “I’m not into Mitt, but I like this Ryan guy.”.I asked him why he’d vote for the bottom of the ticket again, as he did with Bush Cheney..He agreed, but I know that his agreement was of the sort that meant he just didn’t want the conversation to go further. Which was pretty much the way I felt too.’-Nobody is ‘into’ Romney. Even his supporters don’t like Romney. But they’d vote for him even if the VP candidate was Cheney, Palin, or Michelle Bachmann.-Republicans don’t like Willard either, they just hate Obama. It’s more than obvious from the comments on these boards. They don’t even care that Willard is a tax cheat.

You do know that self-identified liberals constitute 20% of the US Population, right? It’s just they are louder than conservatives. In response to Morty: You bring up a very valid point. It will be hard pill to swallow if they are suggesting transitioning Social Security and Medicare into a sustainable situation. Here’s what will be needed, though: A clear demonstration of what will happen if nothing is done. If we don’t fix the system, it will bankrupt itself. Plain and simple. Is Ryan’s plan perfect? Of course not. But it’s a great place to start the discussion. Why? Because no-one right now has suggested an alternative. He recognizes that something needs to be done, and it’s going to hurt. Having surgery to have your spleen removed before it ruptures is better than having your spleen rupture and you get septic. Then you’re screwed. That’s how I equate his plan. Do I agree with all his pieces? No, of course not. But they are the right place to start. Something needs to be done before it’s too late. And we are quickly approaching the “too late” phase of this game we call life.

‘I’m not sure I understand. Does this mean that you are opposed to deficit financing for healthcare programs? If not, then are you opposed to Ryan for doing something you would support?’-I’m opposed to deficit financing in general, with some exceptions, as when the economy needs to be stimulated, like now.I am in favor of drug coverage for Medicare people, but not the way it was done— It was not paid for, it was an unnecessary windfall for phamaceutical companies, and there were improprieties in how it was rammed through Congress.-When the country is prosperous, like during the Clinton years, that is the time to create budget surplus and pay down the national debt.-When Bush had the surplus, he specifically, deliberately, eliminated it with the Bush tax cuts.-

Then, there was the war in Afghanistan, the invasion of Iraq, Medicare Part D, and more tax cuts, benefitting the rich. NONE of those things were paid for.-Ryan voted for every single one of them. Tell me again what a fiscal conservative he is.
