And those good folks in the Republican party want to double the bill on the LOAN FEES, paid to PRIVATE LENDERS, not even accounting for the tuition that actually goes to the school. Think about that a moment. Okay, a moment is too long for anyone in the “radical right” to hold any thought.

When a football program claims to be “making money,” you can bet there’s fuzzy accounting going on. They take credit for tickets and TV sales, but don’t count the remedial ed, the special classes, the cost of the stadium, donations to the foottball program that eat into donations to academics. You know, that’s academic stuff.

You lie. He said he would veto any bill if the costs entirely came from women’s health programs. Now, I suppose, if you argue the Republican house is constitutionally unable to pass any bill that doesn’t attack women or the poor, I guess your statement is technically true.

When a college athletic program actually FUNDS EDUCATION, like math, sciences, and yes “liberal arts”, let me know. Every university or college I’ve ever seen has cut “academics” to promote and/or sustain athletic programs.

This dementia starts early though. When on our school board for a number of years when we had to try to pass a levy every year to fund schools, over and over, “parents” and “the community” said cutting math, music, science, and the arts was okay, but DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH FOOTBALL!!

Maybe that’s why I don’t really have that much sympathy for PROFESSIONAL athletes with head injuries, but I get REALLY ANGRY that KIDS are being seriously damaged, for LIFE, in this idiotic sport. The parents pushing to defend spending on football DO seem to indicate the brain damage is long-standing.

It’s also interesting that in track and field, folks long banned javelin because it was “dangerous”, and even went after discus and shot put, but wow, football is “safe”.

How about the new university spinoff from USF.It won’t be accredited for years so who is going to want to teach there, what students want to go there, and the cost I have to look up again, I think it is about $20million.

FL cut $300 million from universities but started USF Polytechnic with $33 million.
