Some people might think Peanuts is the main character and are waiting for him to make an appearance. – Not really, I’m just curious – anything wrong with that?
This is an answer I got over at Luann.mojitobaby said, 9 minutes ago@FANOLIOIt wasn’t his idea. Schulz’s original strip was a one-panel called L’il Folks, and when it was bought up by United Features, they changed the name. .The person who was asked to submit 10 names to United for a comic strip about kids included “Peanuts” among that list – taking it from the “peanut gallery”, the seating area where the little kids in the audience watched The Howdy Doody Show..Schulz hated the title. He thought it was confusing and undignified. (Ahem, not that “L’il Folks” has a lot of dignity, in my book…) and was worried that people would confuse the name with Charlie Brown’s. He did receive letters along the lines of : “I love your comic of Peanuts and his dog.” Must’ve made him…uh…nuts.

Chuck will have bought the farm before he can finish reading that letter.

Maybe Snoopy should be the one to hang with Marcie rather than Peppermint Patty, since he doesn’t seem to mind being called “sir.”

This was 6 years before we first heard Marcie in Peanuts call Peppermint Patty “sir”!

I once saw a spoof comic of CB running to kick the football – in the next panel you see Lucy sailing over the goalpost.

Snoopy should realize the writer of the letter is respecting him in addressing him as ‘sir’.
