Interesting sidelight here. FedEX transfers their shipments to the postal service for final delivery. Our packages have often sat for 6-15 days in FEDEX “transfer facilities”, before being handed over to the Post Office for next day delivery. (The wonders of tracking.) Now FedEx is rampantly Anti-union, and pro-profit. They claim the Post Office is slow, but they use that union labor, to INCREASE THEIR PROFT, while THEY slow delivery times themselves! UPS is far more efficient than FedEx if you live in a remote area and get “ground delivery”. Post Office is also FASTER and CHEAPER than FedEx!
The fact is, the much-maligned, by the right, Post Office is actually very efficient, DESPITE efforts during the Reagan, and then “W” administrations, to derail the system, and “privatize”.
I think Ben Franklin’s idea SHOULD be forever, and it’s time to realize that “privatize” – sucks!

i agree with ruff, set the rates to cost. Let’s see some competition (oh but the republicans are afraid of that, cause their friends at the top won’t make as much of a killing).
