Yes, I agree, we should have raised taxes on income over $1,000,000 to pay for it. Next year.

Its a scrap of bread for the middle class. The 1% get the real tax breaks, the rest of us get scraps. A country can not survive when only two classes of people exist. The Rich and the Poor. This is a recipe for anarchy.

Why should huge subsidies be paid to the rich but none paid to the middle class. The break given to the working class will hopefully be spent on goods which help employ others and not invested in offshore projects.

Where do you get your numbers? 47 precent pay no income taxes because, after rent, food, and other bills, they can’t afford to. Many of them do work, but do not make enough. You ever hear of projection? Maybe you should get a job

What are you talking about? I know people on public assistance, and they pay income taxes. As for welfare queens, can you define that? I’ve heard the terma often, but no one tells me what it means, making me suspect that it’s simply an epithet. ]

Yup, let’s give a few trillion more in tax breaks to corporations, dividend recipients, and mineral extraction industries, rather than that silly “middle class” that will actually spend their money in the marketplace and keep small businesses around the country going. Boy those stupid people buying, clothing, cars, yogurt and baby formula aren’t NEARLY as important to the economy as those who buy a yacht.

Are you for real? I don’t know which Obama you’re talking about but I would like to meet him. Remember the debt deal? Boner went on TV and said he got “98%” of what he wanted. That hardly sounds like a “my way or the highway” deal from Obama. And speaking of the down grade, S&P chalked it up to CONservative obstruction when raising the debt sealing “The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips in the debate over fiscal policy"Anyone know which side refused to raise the debt celing, dispite having done so repeatedly in the past?

For your information, .49% and .51% equals 1%. Is that the upper 1% you are talking about? Remove the cap on SS and Medicare contributions and a lot of this rhetoric would be unnecessary.

DrC isn’t trying to vote or do anything illegal here lt2. Since we’re the big dog on the global economic block, he has an interest on what happens here, and thus, a legitimate reason to make his opinion heard in such discussions. Being from our neighboring country AND our biggest trading partner, he and his countrymen have a vested interest in our country making sound, long-term decisions. Certainly you wouldn’t begrudge him looking after his self-interests.

“something that he can’t control”? By giving a cogent, rational argument, backed-up by accurate data, he can convince voters to vote for his way of thinking. That gives him more control than our non-voting bretheren (and sisteren too!) And, if he’s an ex-pat living in the great white north, he can vote via absentee ballot.
