Long the most automated production lines in history, and they’re claiming it’s “labor costs”?? Yep, they indeed ate too many twinkies.

I’m sure I saw in a news item that the Hostess company representative said it was the increasing costs of PENSIONS and HEALTH CARE for employees that broke the company.Plus IMO the PC media scare about diet contributed to less sales of their sweet products. I’m diabetic and appreciate companies that offer non-sugar sweet products, as I must check my blood sugar to use diet without medicines to control my blood count.

dt: also non-medicated diabetic, Hostess claiming it was “labor costs” in any form is a pure crock! They’ve had financial problems before, and ALL due to poor management, by management paying itself off. Part of the problem is vw’s observation that product quality HAS declined recently may indeed be playing a role as well. (My dad was a baker, and never had anything good to say about any of their products, or “wonder bread”, which was mostly air and chemicals, not “bread”.)
